Getting to Know Pumpkin Soup

There are a lot of ways to start off a meal. The most common way is with soups. This purpose is help cleanse out the palette and just basically prepare for the meal that is about to come. You can also have your soup complement the type of dish that is going to be served afterwards. One of my favorites is a pumpkin soup. The texture and the subtle sweetness alone will definitely get you salivating enough that you will be craving for the entrée. A pumpkin soup recipe is really easy to find and there are some variations that you can do with it.

What I love the most about a pumpkin soup is the texture it has. It this part alone you can make the variations. You can do this once you got used to the pumpkin soup recipes. You will be amazed on how the soups really thick texture which then can be paired up with a good slice of croutons. An easy pumpkin soup recipe will always involve a stock. This is quite essential since this is going to be the base of your whole soup dish. You can definitely do a lot of things on the stock alone. You can add some flavors in it and you can then have emanated onto the serving of your pumpkin soup afterwards. Here are some ideas that you can do to your soup to give it a bit more than you got used to:

Stock

If you look at the recipe, you will find that one of the major ingredients is the stock. More often than not you will find that chicken stock is used. Making your stock is no rocket science. All you have to do is save the liquid used where you poached your chicken and you are good to go. I did not say just water since you can really be creative in making your stock. Some people would use Chinese cooking wine to poach their chicken. You can also add a number of different spices when you make your stock. All you have to do is drain it and you are ready to set aside your stock for time you will be cooking your pumpkin soup.

Croutons

What is a soup without croutons? You need that crunch to complement the soft and thick texture of your pumpkin soup. As you can see that you will be using cream on the recipe. With all that creaminess, it will be welcome to get some crunch. Make sure that your bread slices for your croutons are not very thick. You can season them with some olive oil and grill them for that smoky flavor. You are also free to use some herbs like rosemary and thyme. This will also complement the soup in a very savory way.

Processed Meats

You are not going to put a whole piece in. If you think that croutons are too heavy, you can opt for something like finely chopping up some bacon or pancetta and sprinkling them onto the soup before serving them. Make sure that you fry them separately so you can get that crunch. You can also use chopped up fried sausages or Spanish chorizo.

Depending on your entrée, your soup is definitely going to be a hit. You will be amazed on what you can do when you are already familiar with the concept of cooking the dish. There are 3 major parts in making this dish; the stock, the vegetable and your spices. Just make sure that you chop up your vegetables before making the puree so you can get that really soft consistency of your pumpkin soup.
