Easy Meatball Recipe: Crockpot Meatballs

Whether you are in search of the perfect recipe for an appetizer or for a family dinner, nothing beats a quick-fix easy meatball recipe.  Meatballs can be done ahead of time for an extra-easy meal fit for all ages.


Creating the best meatball recipe depends on how you create a mixture of ground meat rolled into balls along with a number of ingredients, but is not restricted to red meat.  This can be substituted with ground chicken or turkey and can even have a vegetarian or fish alternative.


While we are all searching for the best recipe for meatballs, the secret lies in the combination of pork and beef as well as the ingredients used to stretch the meat, and plenty of bread crumbs and milk to create a tender mixture. In some countries, meatballs are used as a traditional dish with a homemade soup or prepared with tomato-based sauce.  It can be as simple as frying them or, as a healthier alternative, can be grilled, steamed or boiled.  Meatballs can also be cooked with gravy.  Globally, there are quite a number of recipe for meatballs consumed either with pasta, rice, bread, mashed potatoes, vegetables or even on top of a pizza.  They can even come in different shapes and sizes from marble-sized meatballs to baseball-shaped ones.

By far, crockpot meatballs are considered the most easy meatball recipe preparation while off you carry on with your other tasks on a busy night.  Crockpot meals are about the only way to prepare dinner that’s not microwaved, when you are too tired to cook as you get home from work.  It requires less work — throwing them all in the slow cooker; and the rest is history.


Using a slow cooker, also known as the crockpot, is a fantastic, delicious and healthy alternative recipe for meat balls.  Fill the crockpot to only one half to two-thirds full.  Should you happen to fill the slow cooker up to its brim, the meatballs may not cook properly.  If the meatballs and liquid levels are lower, the preparation will cook quickly.  So always take the extra precaution when preparing crock pot meatballs before going off doing your stuff on a busy schedule.


The meatballs remain tender and moist as opposed to the chances of getting them all dry when frying or baking them as crockpots make it impossible to burn food even if cooked for too long.  You can thicken the juices and concentrate flavors by setting the crockpot to high for the last part of your cooking time and by removing the lid. They are also good as they can be eaten straight out of the crockpot while everyone continues to enjoy the wonderful aroma of meatballs.



Pan Fried Meatballs

There are lot of Easy Meatball Recipes for the crockpot on the net but the truth of the matter is the that by far my favorite way to make meatballs is to fry them. Don’t get me wrong I love the crockpot and I don’t mind oven baked meatballs but by far my favorite is to pan fry. This recipe is the easiest of the real traditional meatballs and really once you get the hang of it you’ll find it super easy. Enjoy this real Italian Meatball Recipe.


  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • ½ cup minced onion
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 egg


  1. In large mixing bowl add the ground beef and mix in all the other ingredients. Use wooden spoon and do not over mix, if the mix gets stringly add some bread crumbs
  2. Form them into balls with an ice cream scoop or you can do this by hand if you prefer. Use a cookie sheet or flat pan to lay them as staging area for the next step, get the entire batch as balls.
  3. Use a heavy large frying pan that will hold about 10 to 12 meatballs and place it on the top of the stove with a little vegetable oil, set the heat to a tad above medium high.
  4. Once the pan heats up place the meatballs in the pan quickly, giving them room to roll around do not overload the pan. Wait a minute and then use a spatula to roll them to another side to cook. The more surface that you can cook the rounder the balls will become. You can also flip the pan with your wrist to roll the meatballs but this technique takes practice. You need to be very careful as until they are cooked they can easily break up.
  5. Once all the sides are brown and the cooking is complete you can transfer them to another pan or add them directly to sauce. If you are not sure if they are done, just cut one open, if you don’t get them just right, no worries you can add them to a cookie sheet at set the oven at 150 degrees F. to finish cooking.
